The children at Alexander Hosea School worked hard over half term to create some wonderful posters which have been sent over to Kera Hora School in Bishoftu. The ‘All About Me’ posters are a great way for the children in England to share all about their lives, their families and their culture with the children in Ethiopia, offering a shared learning experience and a way of strengthening the link between the schools.
Miss Pursey, Link Coordinator at Alexander Hosea School, talks about what the children have been doing:
“Before half term the children in Year 3, 4, 5, and 6 were set the exciting challenge to produce a poster, entitled ‘All About Me’! We had an assembly beforehand, where we discussed all of the information we were given when we had a visit last academic year from 2 visitors from Link Ethiopia. We then thought about what information the children in Ethiopia might like to find out about us!
We were told we could produce our information in whichever way we fancied, [so] some of us made posters, some made booklets and one child even made a fact sheet with pop out and ‘feely’ bits on – let’s hope it gets all the way to Ethiopia in one piece! In our posters, we introduced ourselves and then gave information like our favourite film, favourite food or book. Lots of us explained about the members of our families (including our pets!) We are looking forward to hearing back from Kera Hora School and finding out all about them.”
