Volunteering in the UK

Together We Learn’s London office comprises a small, tight-knit and dedicated team. Volunteers and interns will work closely with different members of the team, including the Chief Executive, Projects Coordinator and Sponsorship Coordinator, who will support the development of your skills in a variety of areas.

We have a number of opportunities for remote part-time volunteers to support our Sponsorship programme throughout the year. We also host regular internships in partnership with universities who are able to offer paid internship schemes. We hope that in this way we can support students who may not otherwise be able to access work experience in a sector where volunteering is often taken for granted. Read on for more details of these opportunities.

If you have a particular skill you think could support us with our work, please do get in touch.

Interning at Together We Learn was a fantastic experience. Being part of such a dedicated and tight-knit team and feeling as though the work you are doing is vital and sustainable makes every work day fly by. I have learned so many useful and transferable skills in the short time I was able to spend with the team and the insight my internship gave me into working in the charity sector was invaluable.”

Sponsorship Programme Volunteers

Sponsorship Programme Volunteers support the delivery of our Student Sponsorship programme. Volunteering can be done remotely or in our office and is part-time and flexible, so can fit around any schedule. Ideally, we would like to work with volunteers who are able to contribute a few hours a month over a longer term.

Volunteers work with our Coordinator to review and format donor reports. This is a rewarding role with the opportunity to understand more about the challenges students in Ethiopia face accessing education, while observing how sponsorships helps to overcome these challenges.

The role suits those who are passionate about our mission, with good Microsoft word skills, and are organised and independent workers. It is also important that volunteers share the organisation’s values of respect towards the communities we work for and understand the importance of messaging that is empowering and honours the dignity and potential of the students this programme serves.

For the sake of data protection regulations, volunteers must be resident in the UK.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us and we can share further information.

Paid Internships

We host regular summer and term-time internships in partnership with Queen Mary University and Oxford University. Both universities have schemes that enable students to intern while receiving a London living wage. If you attend either of these universities, you can contact us to find out when we will next be arranging internships through those schemes. Unfortunately we do not have capacity to host internships beyond these opportunities.
