Campaign campaign raises £15,000!
Thank you to all the donors who supported, shared and donated to our Big Give Christmas Challenge from the 3rd to 10th December. Together we raised £15,000, with every donation matched by our pledgers and Ethiopiaid.
We will be using the funds raised to create corner libraries and improve literacy in 15 schools in rural areas.
Thanks to your generosity last year, we are building new kindergarten classrooms at Kebele 20 school. This year, let’s rally together again to support the 3,750 students in rural schools who are currently missing vital support to improve literacy.
Our campaign ran from December 3rd to December 10th, giving us just one week to reach our goal. All donations must be made online on our Big Give page to qualify for the doubling effect. Together, let’s make a lasting impact for these children!
Libraries for Rural Schools
We will build positive and inspiring reading spaces for children in rural schools.
We will set up corner libraries in 15 rural schools. At each school we will provide corner library furniture, new curriculum textbooks and colourful local language children’s story books. These will support learning across all subjects as well as reading for pleasure.
We will train directors and teachers in effective library management and facilitation of reading sessions so they have the skills to improve literacy and develop reading habits within the school.
