Today is a momentous day in Link Ethiopia’s life, as we see St George’s School opening its doors for the first time to local orphan and vulnerable children from Azezo in Gondar, Ethiopia!
We started our long, hard journey of building this school back in the summer of 2012, when we were commissioned by Broomwood Hall school in London to build a school with world-class facilities for local children in Gondar who were orphaned, or those facing multiple disadvantages. The photo gallery shows our journey from acquiring a piece of empty land, to the beginning of the construction and its various phases, to the day when it all came together and local children accessed pre-primary education for free, which otherwise wouldn’t have happened!
We are grateful for the support of our generous donors, the Northwood African Education Foundation. We couldn’t have done this without their support throughout this project, nor without the help of the local community, the newly appointed St George’s School staff, and our amazing local Link Ethiopia team in Gondar!
We are still carrying out finishing touches to the School and we hope to officially open the school in May 2014, so watch this space!
