Link Ethiopia has Olympic Fever!

Many schools have already taken part in a shared learning activity inspired by the upcoming London 2012 Olympics. Students in both the UK and Ethiopia told us their personal goals, such as becoming a lawyer or doctor. In secondary schools they also had to choose which Olympic value was most important to achieving that goal, for example courage or inspiration. Wondaya for instance wants to be a teacher in order to improve access to education in rural Ethiopia, and cited equality as essential to securing this dream.

Secondary school pupils also gave their suggestions on how to make the world a better place. Friendship and mutual respect were often referred to by the students as essential for development; something Link Ethiopia is helping to encourage with our school links. Shared learning activities such as these highlight similarities between children of different cultural backgrounds, promote positive relationships between countries and unite individuals through global causes or events, such as the Olympics.

Seaford Head Community College in East Sussex created this fantastic display:Seaford Head's Olympic Values display
