A huge congratulations to the Link Ethiopia team that took part in the Great Ethiopian Run! Three teachers from Ossett Academy in West Yorkshire were part of a team of people who took part in Link Ethiopia’s fundraising effort – they not only helped raise a huge amount for Link Ethiopia, but also achieved the amazing feat of completing a 10k run at 8,000ft under the burning Ethiopian sun! As one brave runner put it, “the whole experience was amazing – we can’t stop talking about it”.
This year, Link Ethiopia are hoping to take a large group out to the run, taking place on the 25th November 2012. We’ve already had a couple of schools express an interest in sending both staff and students out to the run and combining this unique opportunity with visiting their link school. This is a chance not only to take part in Africa’s biggest and best road race, held in Africa’s highest capital city Addis Ababa, but also to explore Ethiopia’s beautiful countryside and culture and visit a link school for yourself, so you can see for yourself where your support is going.
If you think your school would like to be a part of this event please contact [email protected] for more information.
This fundraising event is open to anyone. If you know any running enthusiasts who might enjoy the chance to get involved in this unique experience as well as supporting education in Ethiopia please direct them towards our website http://linkethiopia.org/get-involved/great-ethiopian-run/
If the dizzying heights of Addis Ababa aren’t for you, Link Ethiopia still have spaces in several sponsored runs all across the UK. Details can be found here or by contacting Joe for more information [email protected]
