Teachers from Dr. Challoner’s Grammar School visit Fasiledes Secondary

In February Christopher Savvides and Gareth Cadman visited Fasiledes Secondary School, with whom Dr. Challoner’s Grammar School has been linked for over 15 years. The visit was funded by the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust TIPD visit funding scheme. Chris and Gareth were warmly welcomed by the student Link Club with a traditional coffee ceremony and a cultural display. They reciprocated by using a ‘Life Box’ and some video footage compiled by Dr. Challoner’s students as a talking point to compare culture in the UK. During their week in the school, Chris and Gareth were able to observe lessons, make video diaries with Fasiledes students and plan for future projects. During their exciting and eye-opening week in Ethiopia, Chris and Gareth also visited a rural primary school to see the difference in rural and urban education. Overall the visit was a great success and will help raise more awareness in the UK as well as strengthening the partnership between the two schools.
